Their new album “TIEMPO” mark their return and already two singles “Aun Me Perteneces” reached Top 10 on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart and “Por Tu Culpa” reached #1 on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart. Mickey & Joell understand that the popularity of bachata has surpassed borders and there couldn’t be a better time to share their music. 24 Hora’s music is already in rotation in Europe, Central and South America, the Caribbean and of course the United States. It’s a challenge that they know and take head-on with great professionalism that they have developed, despite their young age. Their experience as artists, composers, producers and lovers of the studio have all built up to this ideal moment for their second album titled “TIEMPO”, which is already gearing up to be one of the most important in the urban bachata scene of 2016.

In 2010, the group presented their first album titled “24 Horas-Los Inolvidables”, which became a recognizable hit. It opened the doors for their incredible debut to become one of the most important albums of that year. Four of their songs (“24 Horas,”“No Puedo Creer,” “Ayer” and “Duele Duele”) became #1 hits on the Billboard charts, radio stations and on TV. Those tracks helped turn the group into one of the most interesting success stories of that year, garnering nominations on Billboard Latin Awards 2011 and Premio Lo Nuestro 2012.

The group’s remix of Enrique Iglesias’s hit single “Ayer”, had a huge international impact and led to them to perform their music to crowds around the world, including Madison Square Garden, Miami Arena, etc. Rodolfo Jaquez “Joell” and Jonathan Then “Mickey” make up more than a duo. They are an unparalleled musical force that not only sing, but also house an extensive catalog of music as composers. They have written songs not just for “24 Horas”, but for artists like Prince Royce, Messiah, Yunel Cruz, Frank Reyes and Leslie Grace, among others.

Mickey & Joell were born in New York and spent a big part of their childhood and teenage years in the Dominican Republic. Music has always been present and while they enjoyed their time in San Francisco de Macorís, their playlists consisted of Jay-Z, R-Kelly and Eminem’s greatest hits, of Elvis Martínez, Anthony Santos, Raulin Rodriguez or Aventura’s bachata, and old salsa albums by La Fania All-Stars, Tito Rojas and Gilberto Santa-Rosa. A mix of genres, sounds and stories that served as inspiration for their first compositions.

From a young age they began writing melodies and lyrics. They understood that by combining their talents they created a strong creative synergy that was naturally transforming them into a solid group capable of creating their own music.

Mickey & Joell delivered their first album during the burst of urban bachata in the U.S. in 2010, and surely made their mark amongst other artists in that genre. They exploded onto the scene with an original sound that included modern elements, while always respecting their roots and the originality of traditional bachata that they heard first-hand in the Dominican Republic. Distinctively, they’ve built their sound using bachata as the foundation adding subtle modern touches. In the time between their first album and the upcoming one, they have been working viciously on their music, composing on guitar and piano. Since they work out of their own studio, they have had the discipline and all of the elements necessary to record at any given moment of the day.

Their lyrics don’t have a precise or specific formula. They are the result of a narration of stories that ring true with everyone. Lyrics of love, conquest and songs that one can dance to, while respecting the rhythm that they hold dear. Bachata is the essence of their music, a special and unique genre, so unique that it can capture feelings of sadness or happiness that can incite a dance that is sensual and full of love.
